Business Retention and Expansion

BR&EBusiness Retention and Expansion is a community-based, volunteer-driven economic development tool used to encourage growth and stability of local business. Business Retention and Expansion works to improve the competitiveness of local businesses by evaluating and addressing their broader needs and concerns. This is crucial to the sustained viability of communities, since businesses that stay competitive are more likely to remain and expand in their community. Read more...

Severn Sound Sustainability Plan

Sustainability PlanThe Severn Sound Sustainability Plan was developed in 2008 to provide “a framework for agencies to ensure that environmental, social, cultural and economic issues are managed, and that action plans are in place, that can be monitored for effectiveness over time.”

Picture This! Simcoe North 2000-2050

Picture ThisIn 2000, the NSCFDC commissioned the development of a comprehensive community strategic plan involving a year long consultation process with a diverse group of people and groups representing the North Simcoe communities of Christine Island, Midland, Penetanguishene, the Township of Tiny, and the Township of Tay. The report was presented to the community in April 2002, and several Action Teams were established to address key issues identified through the process.

Regional Economic Strategy

REDSIn 2004, the NSCFDC and the Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Beausoleil First Nation and Midland, Penetanguishene, Springwater, Tiny and Tay decided to undertake the joint preparation of the first regional economic development strategy that would have a multi-sector focus and would address investment retention as well as investment attraction. The purpose of this project was the preparation of a Strategic Plan to further North Simcoe’s economic development.
