Accessibility

Legislation under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act for Customer Service Standards will come into effect January 1, 2012. This standard details specific requirements for all service providers and businesses.

  • It is to ensure that service is delivered in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities.
  • Integrate services and provide equal opportunities for persons with disabilities to access those services.

The Accessibility Standards for Customer Service HR Policy templates are available online at www.tolearnonline.ca at a cost of $50 and can be purchased through PayPal. At present, there is a free course available, which is very useful but it does not cover all the legal aspects of the act.

 

There are two policy templates listed in the online learning catalogue in the Customer Service Section:

  • one for businesses with fewer than 20 employees
  • and one for businesses with 20 or more employees.
